Manufacturing Process

To create artificial plants and flowers, manufacturers use hot melt glue to adhere the individual plant parts (such as petals and leaves) to a central stem. This may be done manually or by machines.

Producing artificial plants requires the assembly of different faux plant parts created using one, or a combination of different materials such as plastic, silk, metal, fabric, foam or silk. Artificial flower manufacturing, for instance, can be carried out manually, machine-assisted or both.

The same goes for more complex artificial plant or tree designs. These are assembled together to create the plant or tree design structure, or just a subunit of the entire design. The process is done repeatedly— in attaching leaves to the stem and in attaching individual stems to the plant or flower base until the intended arrangement and design is achieved.

Artificial plant manufacturers commonly turn to hot melt glue for product assembly applications or end of the line packaging. That’s where American Standard Adhesives come in. We supply Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)-based hot melt glue for assembly because it provides a strong bond and dries quickly. Our glue stick ASA-8102 is recommended for manual application using a glue gun, and ASA-8802 in the pellet form is used with a glue machine for larger operations.

ASA-8802 and 8102 work on substrates such as plastic, wood, metal, fabric, ceramic, and fabric. This makes it ideal for artificial plants assembly as most of the material is plastic and polyester-based.

The 30 second open time of 8102 and 8802 allows ample time for the production line operations to attach and reposition the material. Both of these adhesives dry clear, giving the product a seamless and natural finished look.

Additionally, these adhesives are applicable in assembling the end of the line packaging of the artificial plants which deals with material combinations ranging from foam to corrugated, wood to foam, or plastic to wood.
